Raising Resilient Youth in the Face of Public Drug Use in the Tenderloin
The Tenderloin neighborhood is home to approximately 3,500 children—the highest concentration of youth per square mile in San Francisco. These young residents face unique challenges including public drug use, unsafe street conditions, and recruitment by open-air drug markets.
Despite these obstacles, Community Benefit Organizations and dedicated parents have developed numerous programs to support and uplift Tenderloin youth, creating pathways for success in challenging circumstances.
