Join SF Democrats in action as we bring volunteers to City Hope to bag and deliver essential groceries directly to elderly and disabled neighbors throughout the Tenderloin neighborhood. This is community organizing at its most meaningful - putting our values into practice by ensuring our neighbors have access to nutritious food.
When: Tuesday, September 9th, 9am - 11am
Where: City Hope SF, 45 Olive Street, San Francisco, CA 94109
What You'll Do: Working in partnership with the SF-Marin Food Bank, we'll first bag groceries together, then help deliver them by foot to elderly and disabled community members who face barriers accessing food. You'll be walking through the Tenderloin, connecting directly with neighbors and making a real difference in their day.
What to Bring: Comfortable walking shoes for neighborhood delivery routes
Volunteer Requirements: Volunteers must be 9+ years old. Ages 9-12 need adult supervision; 13+ can volunteer independently.
Why This Matters: Food insecurity affects thousands of San Francisco residents, and City Hope has been a vital lifeline in our community for years, providing culturally appropriate groceries and wraparound services with dignity and respect. As Democrats, we believe everyone deserves access to nutritious food, and this is our chance to turn that belief into direct action.
