Emergency Rally to Save Bay Area Transit

San Francisco Democrats stand for transit as an essential tool for our region’s prosperity and helping everyday people get around safely and efficiently. We passed a resolution in March to call on the California and local government to make sure it stays funded.

Unfortunately, we learned yesterday that Governor Newsom is breaking off an agreement to secure one-time funds for Bay Area transit while the region works on a long-term funding solution. This would be devastating to our community because agencies would have to make deep, enduring cuts to transit service to balance their budgets. This would mean loss of jobs, loss of business, huge problems for city budgets, and more traffic.

Working people rely on transit and the entire region depends on it, therefore San Francisco Democrats are joining with San Francisco Transit Riders, Transbay Coalition and Streets for All SF for an emergency rally on Monday morning (9/8) at 9am in Civic Center Plaza to show Governor Newsom that transit is essential!
