Food insecurity in San Francisco is at a critical point. Even in one of the wealthiest cities in the country, many families, seniors, and working people struggle to afford groceries as costs rise and displacement increases. For too many neighbors, the weekly choice is between paying rent or buying food.
That’s why volunteer-powered food distribution matters. When we pack bags and support local food programs, we’re doing more than moving boxes — we’re giving families dignity and relief. Every hour volunteered expands the number of people we can serve and strengthens our community safety net.
We’re proud to partner with the Booker T. Washington Community Service Center, a century-old Black-led institution that has supported San Franciscans for generations. Booker T. provides everything from hot meals to childcare to senior services, creating a welcoming space for all. By volunteering here, you’re supporting a pillar of the community working every day to build a more inclusive and thriving San Francisco.
